This pattern is completely adjustable so you can work with any size yarn, and create a slipper for any foot size you wish. Notes on how to make changes to your slipper are provided in pink text.

Adjusting the width of the slipper:
Rows 3 -7 of the pattern determine the width of the slipper. You can work fewer rows for a smaller/more narrow foot, or thicker yarn. (Example: If you stop on row 6, rows 8-11 will be 32 stitches around).
You can work more rows for a larger/wider foot, or thinner yarn. (Example: You can add more rows between rows 7 and 8 if you increase by 4 stitches on each row. So after row 7, your next row would be [8 sc, increase in next sc] 4 times (40 sc), and rows 8-11 will be 40 stitches around.

12) Ch 1, sc 1 in same stitch (counts as 1st sc stitch) sc 36 around, join with a slip stitch to 1st sc. (36sc).
13) Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc stitch), dc in each sc around, slip stitch to top of ch 3 to close round (36 dc).
14 and 15) Repeat row 13.

work, 28 sc, ch 1, turn, ...
Adjusting the length of the slipper:
Continue to work back and forth in rows (Row 17) until piece is almost long enough to reach the
back of your foot. This is to make the slipper slightly smaller than your foot size to allow for some
stretch. Depending on the amount of stretch in the yarn and how snug you want them to fit, adjust
the length as needed. I worked 20 rows for a women’s size 11-12. Crochet fewer rows for a smaller
size, trying the slipper on as you work.
Note that if you used fewer than 36 sc stitches for the width of your slipper back on rows 1 -7, you will crochet fewer stitches back and forth on row 17. (Ex: If you used 32 sc for the width of your slipper, you will crochet 24 sc back and forth. 24 + 8 = 32). This is because row 17 leaves the last 8 sc stitches unworked for all slipper sizes.
Forming the slipper:
Fold at end of slipper in half with right sides facing. Slip stitch the back edges together by slip stitching through both layers of fabric, joining them together to close the back of the slipper. Fasten off. Turn right side out.

White Border
1) With cream coloured yarn, starting at the center back of slipper, ch 1, sc 1 in same stitch (counts as 1st sc stitch), 18 sc along 1st side of slipper, 8sc along front of slipper, then crochet another 18 sc along other side of slipper. (44 sc around). Slip stitch to 1st sc to close round.
2) Ch 1, sc 1 in same stitch (counts as 1st sc stitch), 44 sc around. slip stitch to close round (44 sc).
3 and 4) Repeat row 2.
5) 6 Picot Edge Row: Ch 1, 1 sc in same stitch (counts as 1st sc stitch) 16 sc, [dec, ch 2, slip stitch in 1st ch] across front of slipper 6 times, 15 sc. Join with a slip stitch to 1st sc to close round. Fasten off.

A Note on stitch count for the Picot Edge:
Note that there are 16 sc in row 5 (2 less than the 18 sc worked in row 1 of the border pattern. Whatever # of stitches you work on each edge, row 5 (picot edge row) will always have 2 sc less than that number. (Example: If you work 14 sc across each edge in row 1 for a smaller shoe size, you will work 12 sc before you begin the de- crease picots.
Re-Sizing the border for a smaller slipper:
Note that there are 16 sc in row 5 (2 less than the 18 sc worked in row 1 of the border pattern. Whatever # of stitches you work on each edge, row 5 (picot edge row) will always have 2 sc less than that number. (Example: If you work 14 sc across each edge in row 1 for a smaller shoe size, you will work 12 sc before you begin the de- crease picots.
Re-Sizing the border for a smaller slipper:
For my shoe size (women’s 11-12), I worked 18 sc stitches across each side of the slipper, and 8 sc stitches across the front, giving me 44 sc stitches total. No matter what size you are making,
always work exactly 8 sc stitches across the front of the slipper. Depending on the size of your
slipper, you will have more or fewer sc stitches than I did across each side.
For example, if you are making a smaller slipper, you might only crochet 14 sc stitches across each edge + the 8 sc stitches along the front, giving you 36 sc stitches total for your border. The important thing is not to work the border stitches too loosely or too tightly. The border should fit your foot snugly when finished. (See diagram for stitch placement).
