Putting the Doll together and embellishing:

Cut one 3” length of lace edging for around neck. Glue where skin tone and off white yarn meet. Cut one 7” length of lace edging for bust edging. Glue where off white and light blue yarn meet. Cut a 5” length of 3/8” ribbon to put around waist. Glue into place at back of doll. Form a small bow from a short length of 3/8” ribbon, and glue to front of dress. (see photos for details).

Sew legs to inside of skirt opening beneath waist. Sew hair onto doll’s head, working around the hairline, stuffing the bun and hair lightly. Sew arms onto either side of doll so that the height of the shoulders aligns. Sew hands together.

Curls and braid (Using K hook and brown yarn or colour of your choice):

Cut 4 20” lengths of yarn. Working with 4 strands of yarn held together, and leaving approx. 1.5” of yarn at beginning, chain 9, and fasten off, leaving approx. 1.5” of yarn at the end. Un-ply the yarn left at the ends to create the “curls” at each end of “braid.” Trim curls to desired length. Cut a 14” length of ribbon, and use yarn needle to thread ribbon back and forth through the braid. Wrap the braid around the top of the hair bun and tie ribbon ends into a neat bow beneath hair bun in front of curls.

Neck: To shape the head and neck, thread a piece of yarn matching the skin tone back and forth through the neck stitches at the base of the head, and pull the yarn tightly. tie strands in a knot at back of neck to hold in place, and weave in ends.

Face: Cut eyes eyebrows, and mouth from felt and glue into place. Embroider nose by making several neat whip stitches along the center of the face, with the widest whip stitch at the bottom to form the appearance of nostrils. Add flower to doll’s hands.
